"What is VNR"? VNR is Visual Novel Reader, a translation software for Visual Novels. With both the help of fans around the world who translate, and good ol' fashioned machine translation, Visual Novel Reader allow you to read games that you don't have English patches for. Sometimes the translations are hit or miss, but at the end of the day, some of us are just hungry enough for even the slightest of understanding to not care.

I'm really, really, really not a pro at this. Please be aware you may end up signing yourself up for some extensive googling if there's any errors that I don't know about.

STEP 1.) Download VNR. There's a little download link right at the top.

STEP 2.) Extract the .rar file using 7zip. Must be 7zip. There may be errors otherwise.

STEP 3.) Update the file using the "update.exe" file. It'll open up a command prompt asking you to press any key. Press any key. It then finishes pretty quickly.

Step 4.) Open up VNR! Your "springboard" should look like this, not exactly the same background nor with any apps in it.You have to get your own games.
Step 5: Click the "browse" button at the bottom right, and look for your game. Click on the application .exe file you use to start it up, and some transparent-y pop ups should appear in the corner of your screen. Do not worry, it is simply telling you if it has "found" the game.
Step 6. If it has found your game, and it if it didn't we're shit outta luck here because I have no idea how to fix that, then you will now have a hidden menu to the left of your game's window screen. Move your cursor around there, and this should pop up.

Comic sans not included.

Step 7.
You're pretty much done. Check out the error fixes and just...play the game. To play a game, you follow the same instructions---browse, launch, and play. VNR will take care of the rest.

FURTHER STEPS / ERRORS:

- "My subtitles are complete gibberish!"

Go into text settings and make sure your text encoding is Japanese.

"The English dialogue goes '[....]' but no actual translation"

Go into the settings (gear icon) at your springboard, and change the "translator" to google instead of bing.

- "The translations  kinda suck."

Yeah. Most of it is machine translation, after all.

Anyway, you should now have VNR downloaded and able to work! Hopefully.
